This paper discusses how our mind perceives and remembers moving pictures. The problem is that perceived movements can be different from what we measure on screen and how can we know what things look like in advance. One theory is some internal representation is formed in the viewer's mind. The paper talks about several different situations like overlapping and nonoverlapping cuts, etc. The main idea seems to be that We perceive the framework-relative paths of motion, and not the displacements on the screen. This paper seems to attempt to scientifically describe what could help to give a "seamless" experience therefore, good cut. I'm not sure if it's me having problems concentrating recently or if my English isn't good enough but for some reason even after reading several times, the wording and picture layout in this paper feels a little disorienting.
