Animation From Observation -------------------------- The aim of this chapter is to get the reader acquainted with the field of Motion Capture. What are the challenges? What should be the expectations? Why is it hard? Even though some of the points in this chapter are common sense, I still believe they are mostly overlooked by almost everyone. For example, the concept that we don't need all the details of the human motion, rather we need observations to a simpler model that corresponds to the character that we plan to animate. I believe this simple concept is overlooked by many. Other concepts are summarized, and the aim of them is to show that motion capture is not magic. Sometimes, the illusion can totally break down, and destroy your project! This chapter also explains "how to use this book", and what the target audience are, which is kind of unfortunate, because we don't have the rest of the book! :)
