Animation Observations The main purpose of this chapter was to provide the reader with a familiarity with motion capture and animation from observation in general. In particular the chapter explains some of the challenges associated with using motion capture in animation. Specifically the paper adresses the following * The non fundamental challenges - foremost among these are limits associated with our ability to track human motion, but these are limits that may change at a later date, most of the challenges I list in this summary fall into this category * challenges associated with the richness of human motion. * Our ability to sense human motion * modeling humans for animation in general and how that ties in with motion capture * how to properly represent human motion or abstract it * Challenges associated with getting the "right" performance out of an actor
