This paper kinda builds on Ed Catmull's paper mentioned above. In this paper, an interactive system is explained which is used to create 3D animations. The system had an interative interface used for modelling and animation, which is a huge step forward over Ed Catmull's system. The paper describes the internals of the Menv system. Basically, it supports an interactive interface as well as procedural modelling. The procedural modelling is supported via the modelling language ML. The paper describes how several animation ideas are implemented. The paper also describes the internals of the system (which is implemented as a multitasking system with message passing and shared memory areas for IPC) The system describes here is closer to what we use today. The better tools allowed people to create better movies (like for example, Luxo Jr)
