##Self Evaluation for Eva Schiffer## 1. How satisfied are you with Project 3? What grade would you give yourself? I'm not entirely satisfied with my project 3. I would have liked to get in the spacial data structures and the predator/prey simulation. I would probably give myself a B or a BC depending on how generous I felt. 2. What went right with your Project 3? (Even if you're disappointed in what you achieved, there must have been something good about it.) I did manage to get a pretty good looking set of flocking simulations done. I also read a lot and made a very general application program. 3. a. What could have been better with your Project 3? I could have used better time management when planning projects one and two so that my other class would not have intruded so much on my project three time. b. Put a different way, what would you have done differently? I started reading pretty early, but I think if I did project three over again I would have started my implementation before I was finished reading. I also would have coded in the extended GUI controls for the application much earlier. 4. a. What advise would you give to someone doing your project next year? Start early and don't feel bad if your application looks like crap for the first few days your working on it. Getting the weights of the flocking behaviors wrong can do a lot to make it look terrible even if you don't have serious bugs. b. One specific thing to think about: was what you chose to do an appropriate topic? I don't think that I went quite as far in depth in my application of flocking, but I do feel that flocking was a reasonable topic for project 3. 5. a. What did you learn from your project? Collision detection is hard. Collision avoidance is hard. There are a lot of ways to screw up the weights of flocking behaviors. Flocking needs spacial data structures in order to scale up to more agents. b. Do you feel like you learned enough from it? Yes, I feel that I learned quite a bit from this project. 6. How do you think you did with the other class projects (projects 1 and 2)? I don't think my project one was all that spectacular, but I thought project 2 turned out quite well. If I had to attach a grade I think project 1 would be a B or BC and project 2 would be an AB or B. 7. a. How do you think you did with the other aspects of the class? Overall I think I did ok, not great. I did not get as much as I should have out of some of the readings and I found that rather frustrating. I also spent a lot of time fighting my rusty math knowledge. b. What "grade" would you give yourself for the assignments? I think I would give myself a B for the assignments. c. for the reading summaries? I think I would give myself an AB on the summaries that I completed, but overall a BC because I did not complete so many of them. d. for class participation? I find this a little harder to gauge because I don't think there was all that much class participation across the class. I guess compared to my classmates I would give my self a B in this.
