1. How satisfied are you with Project 3? What grade would you give yourself?

I have achieved what I want to achieve, so I will give A to myslef.

2. What went right with your Project 3?

First, a complete motion icon system has been implemented. It works well. Specifically,

a. I propose a system to create motion icons to help browse and manage motion capture database.
b. I propose a SVD based feature reduction method, which is effective.
c. I propose a GMM based unsupervised pose clustering algorithm, which is effective and efficient.
d. I propose cluster graph based key frame extraction algorithms. These algorithms work well .
e. I propose key frame reposition methods. These algorithms work well.
f. I propose automatic camera setting determination algorithm based on motion trajectory. This automatic method works well.

3. What could have been better with your Project 3?
The folowing potential improvements can be made to improve the current system.
a. An automatic method to evaluate the results from different key frame extraction algorithm s is desired so that the best one can be selected.

b. An automatic method to evaluate the results from different key frame reposition algorithm s is desired so that the best one can be selected.

c. A method is desired to analyze the original motion trajectory so that key frames can be positioned at important places.

4. What advise would you give to someone doing your project next year?

Certainly motion icon is an interesting and appropriate project for anination class. Here are my suggestions to do a decent motion icon project.
a. Watch a lot of different motions carefully to figure out what is important in a motion.
b. Read papers from video summarization, abstraction and retrieval to get ideas how to summarize spatial-temporal information.
c. Some relative mathematical papers such as clustering papers, graph theory.

5. What did you learn from your project?
a. First of all, planning the project carefully. What is the goal? How can you achieve them? How to decompose the project into small pieces? Answer these questions as early as possible.
b. Stick to the schedule as much as possible, so that at least you can achieve something.
c. Read relative papers from different areas.



6. How do you think you did with the other class projects (projects 1 and 3)?

I work on the same project for the whole semester. I think it goes pretty well in all the 3 project stages.

7. What "grade" would you give yourself for the assignments?

From these assignments, I learned how to use Blender and did use Blender to make a short movie. I learned how filmmakers shoot a movie.
