1. How satisfied are you with Project 3? What grade would you give yourself? I am pretty happy with this project. As with anything in life, I wish I could have done more, but I still think what I (we, actually) did was pretty good. I would give myself an A 2. What went right with your Project 3? The division of tasks was pretty good. Working with Nick was a surprisingly pleasant experience. Our discussions on the overall architecture of the system were fruitful. We had success in both the case when each one worked alone (the solvers), as well as pair programming (the collision detection case) 3. What could have been better with your Project 3? This is a tough question. When I ran into all the problems with implicit solvers, deep inside, I started wishing I had just copied the equations from somewhere. However, because at the end it just worked, I am not sure that's what I wish I had done. I learnt a lot in the process. I wish we could add some more features with collision detection, though (like friction). It was just a matter of time pressure. 4. What advise would you give to someone doing your project next year? This topic was definitely an appropriate topic. I'd advise anyone going after me to look very carefully at the equations and try to understand what they REALLY mean before jumping to implementation. This is just a vague advise, but it is the best I got :) 5. What did you learn from your project? I learnt working with implicit methods and doing collision handling. I think that was enough for a one month project. 6. How do you think you did with the other class projects (projects 1 and 2)? I think I did well with Project 1. I gained some insights to what happen when you edit motion files. I had the chance to throw around some filters and see what happens, and I delivered what I promised. I am not very satisfied with Project 2. I wasted so much time trying to track down an elusive bug, and becuase the project timing was so tight, I ended up wasting a huge proportion of project time just tyring to track down this bug. On the other hand, I didn't have a clear goal in mind with this project, so, I wasn't sure what to do if I just throw out the part I was working on. 7. How do you think you did with the other aspects of the class? What "grade" would you give yourself for the assignments? I belive I did exceptionally well with the blender assignment and the film assignment. I'd give myself an A on both. With the reading summary. I believe I did well, and this is, intentionally, a subjective statement(starting with "I believe"). In my mind, I think I got the point behind most of the papers. The quality of my writing is of course hard to judge, because when I read back what I wrote, I have the mental image of what I meant in my head, which could be totally different form what someone else reading them would perceive. So, I will refrain from giving myself a grade here. I don't think that would be accurate. With class participation, this is a tough one. I am not sure what this term exactly represents (asking questions? answering questions? reading the required papers?). I'd play safe and say AB probably? :)
