1. I am reasonably satisfied with project 3. It would have been nice to get further but I progressed in my understanding of systems of linear equations and achieved roughly what I set out to do. I would give myself an AB. 2. I got the system completely and it works as prescribed, their are promising directions for further work. 3. If I had to do over again, I would have read a linear algebra book earlier so that I could do more of the more advanced pieces. I also would have worked to comple the parts I completed earlier so I could experiment with more types of constraints. 4. I would advise them to make sure they understood how the constraints were going to be stated and how to use LSQR and the math behind doing so, and if they did not, I would advise them on what to read. 5. I learned the solving linear systems part of linear algebra and that eventually I need to supplement my knowledge so that I fully understand the appropriate chapters of numerical recipes. 6. I feel that on projects 1 and 2 I did well. They were also experiments in learning math that I didn't know prior to the class. I kind of wish that I had done project 3 first and gained the understanding of linear algebra that I did before attempting to implement the systems I did in projects 1 and 2. As it was pretty much stuck taking the final form of the equations in the paper and trusting that their methods for solving them would work. I now feel a lot more confident dealing with systems of linear equations. I would give myself somewhere between an A and an AB. 7. I would give myself and A for the other assignments, a B for reading summaries ( I intended to do a really good job on them in order to help prepare for the qual and just got backlogged), I would give myself an A for class participation.
