About the GKS:
The Global Korea Scholarship (GKS) provides international students with opportunities to conduct advanced studies at higher education institutions in South Korea. At the same time, the GKS requires students to learn intensively the Korean language in their 1st year, opening up the opportunity to build a career, in academia or industry, in Korea. Applicants to the GKS are required to have a sponsor at an academic institutions in Korea participating into the program.

About process mining and AI research at UNIST:
The "Process-Aware AI Lab (PAAI)" at UNIST (Department of Industrial Engineering), lead by Prof M. Comuzzi, conducts research related with the application of AI techniques in process mining, i.e., the analysis and improvement of business processes using event log data of the systems supporting their execution. In particular, the lab focuses on the following 3 research topics:
- Predictive monitoring of business processes
- Anomaly detection in business process event log
- Application of reinforcement learning for process execution control

We are looking for candidates with a degree in computer science/statistics/industrial engineering or a related topic, and a strong background in (i) machine learning and AI, (ii) programming (Python, Java preferred).

- February 2021: announcement of 2021 application guidelines
- Early April 2021: application deadline
- June 2021: announcement of selected GKS applicants
- August 2021: selected applicants enter Korea
- Sep. 2021 - Aug. 2022: 1-year intensive Korean language course at sponsoring university campus
- September 2022: start of Masters (2 years) or PhD program (3+ years)
