Title: PhD scholarship available at QUT Australia in Social Media Mining A PhD scholarship is available at Centre for Data Science (CDS), Queensland University of Technology, Brisbane, co-funded by Oracle. The CDS comprises an interdisciplinary team of researchers with skills spanning machine learning, text mining, computational modelling and statistics. This collaborative project, between QUT and Oracle, draws expertise on machine learning and text mining from QUT researchers and expertise in cybersecurity from Oracle researchers. The project focuses on developing novel machine learning-based methods to understand and identify cybersecurity, such as vulnerability and exploit details, by analyzing the publicly available information on social media and online platforms. The PhD student will be jointly supervised by A/Prof. R Nayak, QUT and Dr Mahin Chandramohan, Oracle. The student will be co-located between Oracle and QUT. The PhD student will be enrolled through the School of Computer Science, QUT but will spend the majority of time at Oracle. Applicants should hold an honours degree or equivalent in Computer Science or a related field, and should have good written and oral English skills. The assessment of qualifications will also be made based on previous scientific publications (if any) and relevant work experience. The project requires a background in machine learning, text mining, social media mining and related disciplines. Contact r.nayak@qut.edu.au if you are interested in this exciting project.
