## Postdoctoral Fellow / Research Scientist Opening ##

The School of Computing and Information at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking full-time post-doctoral research scientists. Candidates will be housed at the Pitt Computational Social Dynamic (PICSO) Lab and will work with Dr. Yu-Ru Lin in modeling culture norms and predicting community outcomes across diverse cultures/countries. This will involve analyzing a large amount of behavioral and network data collected through different social media and sensing mechanisms. 

Successful candidates will have the opportunity to collaborate with a cross-country, cross-institution, cross-disciplinary research-oriented community, and opportunities to work with exciting new datasets, including social media data, surveys, as well as linked survey-register-based datasets that combine demographic, behavioral, community, and economic information. 

Preference will be given to candidates whose research contributes to one of these areas: network science, machine learning, statistical modeling, social network analysis, complex systems, and computational social science. 

Start date and duration: Beginning as early as February 2021, the position offers an initial two-year term with the possibility of a third-year renewal.

Hiring is contingent upon eligibility to work in the United States.

Ph.D. in fields including computer science, network science, applied mathematics, economics, computational social science, or other related fields.

Required skills:

Experience in programming in one or more of the following: Python, R, Java, C/C++, or similar programs.
Experience in working with large-scale data 
Participation and activity in the scientific community; previously published research paper
Strong communication skills, and the ability to work in a highly collaborative and interdisciplinary environment 
Priorities will be given to those who are fluent in French reading and writing.
