TU Berlin, Faculty IV (Electrical Engineering and Computer Science), Institute for Software Engineering and Theoretical Com-puter Science and the Berlin Institute for Foundations of Learning and Data (BIFOLD) invites appilcations for the position of a
University Professorship - salary grade W3
for the field of "Big Data Engineering".
Working field:
The professorship should cover at least two of the following topic areas in the context of big data processing:
(i) technology and methods for the management of data science processes along the entire data value chain (information extraction, information integration, data management, model building, model application and deployment)
(ii) data science systems and platforms
(iii) efficient and scalable data processing at low-latency
(iv) database management systems.
Requirements:
We are looking for a scientist who -based on previous work- is able to independently conduct system-oriented research and teaching in at least two of the above-mentioned areas. Applicants must fulfill the appointment requirements according to §100 BerlHG. Applicants must have a degree in computer science, a special qualification for scientific work (usually proven by a doc-torate) in the field of database systems, additional scientific achievements (habilitation or equivalent scientific achievements) as well as pedagogical aptitude and experience, to be given proof of by a teaching portfolio (for more information see TUB web-site, quick access no. 144242). Also required are research experience in several of the areas outlined in the job description, experience in international research cooperation (proven by appropriate stays abroad and/or significant participation in interna-tional projects). Teaching will be conducted in both German and English.
