PhD Position in Decentralized Finance / Cryptoasset Analytics, Complexity Science Hub Vienna

The Complexity Science Hub Vienna (CSH) invites applications for a 3-year PhD Position in Decentralized Finance / Cryptoasset Analytics. 


This position will be embedded in the newly founded Cryptofinance & Cryptoasset Analytics Research Group (, which closely collaborates with the AIT - Austrian Institute of Technology and a network of world-renowned researchers embedded in interdisciplinary teams.


An excellent young scientist with a master’s degree or equivalent in computer science, natural sciences, mathematics, or related field. A basic knowledge in network analytics and machine learning techniques is a plus. The successful candidate will investigate technical and socio-economic aspects of crypto asset ecosystems and decentralized finance and develop new quantitative methods enabling a deeper quantitative understanding of complex systems. You must have a critical, open-minded and collaborative spirit.


You should have some research experience at a Master thesis level, or equivalent. You must be proficient in English both written and spoken. We expect you to have the ability to independently carry out data-intensive research as exemplified by your past works that showcase your strong programming, modelling and mathematical skills.
