PhD(s)/Postdoc(s) in Digital Energy at Aalborg University 

One or more position(s) on Digital Energy are available at the Center for Data-intensive Systems (Daisy), 
Department of Computer Science at Aalborg University (AAU), Denmark. 
The position(s) are available for a flexible date between May and September, 2020. 

Depending on qualifications, the position(s) can be filled at either the PhD Fellow or Postdoc level. 
A PhD fellow position is for 3 years. A Postdoc position is initially for 1 year,
with possibility of extension up to 3 years after mutual consent. 

Topics:

- Develop and implement a common information model/ontology covering sensor data from 
  devices and buildings, smarts meters, energy grids, energy consumption, production and 
  flexibility, users, trading, external data sources, and legal parties

- Predict and extract flexibility from energy data using predictive analytics and machine learning 

- Optimize energy consumption, production, storage, conversion, and trading wrt. cost, CO2, 
  grid/infrastructure usage, etc. 

Requirements:
- M.Sc. (PhD level) or PhD (Postdoc level) in computer science, data science, and/or energy analytics
- excellent scientific background and publication record (Postdoc level) 
- demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team
- excellent communication skills in English, oral as well as written
- good programming skills

Advanced experience in at least two of the following areas (relative to the position level): 
- information/ontology modeling 
- data warehousing and OLAP
- data analytics (predictive, prescriptive,..)
- machine learning 
- optimization algorithms

Experience with energy data and analytics is a significant advantage. 

Responsibilities:
- perform excellent scientific research
- develop research prototypes and conduct experiments
- publish in leading international conferences and journals
- participate in activities of the group and the department
- participate in research projects funded by EU and Danish sources. 

Employment:
For a PhD Fellow position, the starting annual salary is approximately DKK 386,000 (ca. EUR 51,750), 
including pension contributions (which can be paid out as salary) and pre taxes. 

For a Postdoc position, the annual salary is approximately DKK 450,000 (ca. EUR 60,000), 
inclusive of pension contributions and pre taxes. For foreign researchers who qualify for the tax scheme 
for foreign researchers (PhD degree required), the annual salary inclusive of pension contributions and after 
taxes is approximately DKK 300,000 (ca. EUR 40,000).
