SugarLoaf-PLoP 2018 - Huaso Edition
(12th Latin-American Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs)
20-23 November 2018, Valparaíso, Chile.
http://hillside.net/sugarloaf/2018/

It is our pleasure to invite you to submit contributions and/or joins us
at SugarLoaf-PLoP 2018 - Huaso Edition, the 12th Latin-American
Conference on Pattern Languages of Programs
<http://hillside.net/sugarloaf/2018/>, which will be held for first time
in Chile.

The growing interest in patterns represents an effort to catalog and
better communicate knowledge, providing handbooks of proven solutions to
common problems. SugarLoafPLoP brings together researchers, educators,
and practitioners to discuss patterns on all aspects of software,
including design and programming, software architecture, user interface
design, domain modeling, software processes, project management,
education, and more. SugarLoafPLoP invites you to add your expertise to
the growing corpus of patterns.

** CONFERENCE TRACKS
The conference has several components:
- writers’ workshops, where participants refine and extend *patterns
proposals* with the help from knowledgeable and sympathetic fellow
pattern enthusiasts
- presentations of *papers about patterns*, e.g. applications in
industry and academia
- free-format discussion groups or workshops focused on some hot topic
related to patterns
- tutorials on specific topics
- invited speakers

We invite submissions to SugarLoafPLoP'18 – Huaso Edition in three
different formats:

(1) Pattern Papers – short papers containing one or more patterns, or
longer papers containing pattern languages. Papers will be reviewed by
PC members, and accepted papers will be assigned an experienced pattern
author as shepherd before the conference. After shepherding, papers
will channeled into a Writers’ Workshop or into a Writing Group, where
they will receive additional face-to-face shepherding at the conference.

(2) Papers on Applying Patterns – regular papers that explore the use
and application of patterns, such as using patterns in industry and
academia, tools for using patterns, evaluation of productivity when
using patterns, teaching and consulting with patterns, and so on.
Authors from both industry practitioners and academics are welcome.

(3) Proposals for free-format discussion groups or workshops -
descriptions of a a two-hour activity, indicating topic, intended
audience and initial set of attendees. Non-conventional formats are welcome.

Submissions can be made in English, Spanish or Portuguese, but accepted
papers in Spanish or Portuguese should be translated for inclusion in
the ACM proceedings.

Additional suggestions or proposals for activities are welcome and
