Keynote talks will be given by Laura Haas (IBM Research) and Jeff Heer (UWashington). Other talks cover topics including interactive data exploration, novel user interfaces for data management activities, and crowd-utilization in data processing tasks. *Paxata* is the pioneer of self-service data preparation, giving everyone who works with today’s volumes and variety of data a business user-friendly workspace for data ex- ploration, integration, quality, enrichment and mastering, with built-in governance and collaboration. The Paxata platform is powered by Apache Spark, and leverages sophis- ticated algorithms, machine learning, as well as elastic and distributed cloud computing infrastructures to deliver modern data preparation at scale. **************** THE AWARD **************** Each award will provide reimbursement up to a limit of US$1000, of expenses incurred in participating in the HILDA workshop. Expenses might be student registration (for HILDA), accommodation (during HILDA and SIGMOD), and travel to/from San Francisco. Awardees are expected to register to the workshop and the main conference and they will have to make their own arrangements for travel and accommodation. At the conference, they will submit documentation of their expenses, and reimbursement of these (up to the limit) will be made after the event has completed. **************** ELIGIBILITY **************** To be eligible for this award, the applicant must be a full-time student, who will par- ticipate in the HILDA workshop. Applicants do not need to have an accepted paper to be eligible. However, students who are primary authors of an accepted paper in HILDA are especially encouraged to apply. Other students who are involved in research closely related to the topics of the workshop are also encouraged to apply.
