Research Fellow Positions in Database Research

The Data and Knowledge Engineering (DKE) research group at The University of Queensland, Australia is a leading database and information systems research group in Australia, with six academic staff and over 30 research staff and PhD students. DKE now has openings for Research Fellow positions funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC) grants, to participate in projects on advanced data management, spatiotemporal and multimedia databases.

These positions are supervised by Prof. Xiaofang Zhou, Prof. Heng Tao Shen and A/Prof. Shazia Sadiq. The role of a Research Fellow is to participate in innovative research developments, conduct original research within the general scope of database systems, provide research input to other staff and students where relevant, supervise PhD students, participate and/or lead interactions with industry and research collaborators, support in literature review and research document preparation. There is also an option to participate teaching.

These positions are suitable for motivated and innovative people with a PhD degree (or near completion) in Computer Science or related fields, strong background in database research, an outstanding publication record and good system development skills. Applicants should have previous research experience in advanced databases, data mining, data quality management, algorithm design and evaluation, as well as research prototyping. Experiences in addressing computationally complex problems and excellent communication skills are essential.

These are full-time, fixed-term appointment for two years at Research Academic level A (salary range $70,676 - $75,868 p.a., plus employer superannuation contributions of 17%, leading to the total package up to $88,766 p.a.).
