Statistics Department Computer Equipment Purchasing Policy
All computer equipment purchases that are intended for use within the Department of Statistics and are purchased with University-related funds need to be ordered through the StatLab
. In order to maintain accurate inventory records, and to ensure that the equipment purchased complies with current computing standards, the Statistics StatLab
will need to be made aware of all computer equipment purchases.
It is University policy that all equipment purchased under any funding source is property of the University of Wisconsin System, Board of Regents
). Please check your individual grant awards about property ownership. In some cases, the award specifically states who retains rights to the property. In some rare cases, it may go to the individual, or the sponsoring agency.
Property ownership is defined as follows: “Title to or ownership of all property acquired by the University of Wisconsin is vested in the Board of Regents. The only exceptions to this policy includes gift funds where the sponsor retains title to the property acquired under the agreement, or, in the case of federal funds, where the sponsoring agency retains title to the property. In these cases, the Board of Regents assumes custodial ownership of the property. Under no circumstances does equipment become the property of University faculty or staff.”
