Major Power Outage - Evening of Monday, May 24th
Update, 11pm
As of now the majority of machines in Unit 3 have been put back online. The CSL is aware of lingering problems with some workstations and will work on these Tuesday.
If any of your machines are malfunctioning after the outage please email
lab@cs.wisc.edu and lab staff will investigate.
Update, 7pm
As of 7pm power has not been restored to Unit 3. Work on unit 3's power has hit a snag and it is currently unknown when power will be restored.
CSL staff is on standby and monitoring the situation. The lab will continue to send updates via email and through the CSL docs as information is available.
Original Email
ALL CS Unit 3 wall outlets and non-emergency lighting will lose power
Monday, May 24th starting at 5pm as part of the building's ongoing utility
construction project.
As a result, ALL office workstations, non-core servers, and clusters that
reside in Unit 3 will be shut down by CSL staff starting at 4pm that day.
This outage is expected to last a few hours after taking into account the
planned shutdown, the power outage itself, and the time it will take lab
staff to bring machines back online once power is restored that night.
Core servers such as AFS, Mail, Web, and DNS have backup power and will
remain in service during this outage.
More major service outages are expected this summer, but are not scheduled
at this time. The CSL will announce these as far in advance as possible.
Please plan your usage accordingly. If you have any questions,
please email
lab@cs.wisc.edu.
