What is PostgreSQL?

PostgreSQL is a sophisticated Object-Relational DBMS, supporting almost all SQL constructs, including subselects, transactions, and user-defined types and functions. It is the most advanced open-source database available anywhere.

What platforms is PostgreSQL installed on?

PostgreSQL is available on all lab-supported UNIX-based workstations. Users wishing to use PostgreSQL should request access using the form at http://www-auth.cs.wisc.edu.
