DA-IICT is situated in the city of Gandhinagar, the capital of Gujarat. The city was established as a modernized twin city for Ahmedabad. It was visualized as a planned city along the lines of Chandigarh. Located on the bank of the River Sabarmati, the city is the administrative centre of Gujarat. The city is also known as Knowledge Hub as several educational institutions of national and international repute are situated here.

Ahmedabad Airport to DA-IICT

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport located in Ahmedabad is well connected with major domestic and international cities. Taxis and autos are available in the airport. It is advisable to take a pre-paid taxi for Gandhinagar from the airport. The normal taxi fare from airport to Gandhinagar costs around Rs 350-450. The auto fare is approximately Rs 150.

Ahmedabad Railway station to DA-IICT

Ahmedabad Railway Station is the nearest rail station connected with other cities of the country. Persons traveling by train may hire either auto or taxi to arrive in Gandhinagar. The auto fare is around Rs 200-250 and the taxi fare may cost around Rs. 450-550 and will take approx. 50 minutes to 1 hour to reach Gandhinagar from the station. One can also avail the government buses, shuttling between Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar. The stop at Gandhinagar where you need to disembark is Gh-0 or Ch-0, both of which are less than 1 Km from the DA-IICT campus. From here, autos could be easily hired to the campus.

Visa Information

Foreign nationals require a visa to enter India. If you are attending ICISS 2010, we can provide an invitation letter for visa purposes if you need one. We can send the letter only after you have paid the registration fees for the conference and/or tutorials. To request an invitation letter, please contact Dr. Samrat Mondal by email at with the following information:

  • Name, affiliation, and postal address.
  • Paper ID and paper title, if applicable.
  • "Request for ICISS 2010 Invitation Letter" as the subject of your email.


Apart from the monsoon season, the climate of Gandhinagar is normally dry. From November to February, the average maximum temperature is around 29 degrees C (85 degrees F), the average minimum is 14 degrees C (57 degrees F), and the climate is extremely dry. Sometimes it rains heavily in Gandhinagar due to the southwest monsoon during mid-June to mid-September.

Akshardham Temple

Akshardham is a beautiful Hindu temple dedicated to lord Swaminarayan. The temple has pink stones with beautiful carvings. It is surrounded by beautiful gardens and awesome fountains. Another main attraction of the temple is the laser water show, which one must see.

Sabarmati Ashram

Sabarmati Ashram is located in the Ahmedabad suburb of Sabarmati adjoining to famous Ashram Road, at the bank of River Sabarmati, This was one of the residences of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi. This ashram is now a national monument by the Government of India due to its significance in the Indian independence movement in the form of the Dandi March in 1930.

Indroda Nature Park

The Indroda Nature Park is located at the outskirts of the city near Indroda Village. It houses both Deer Park and Dinosaur Park and its one of the best tourist spot for nature lovers. The park has various animals like Deer, Wild boar, Hare, Porcupine, various reptiles, and mammals.

Science City

Science City, also known as Gujarat Science City is the bold initiative undertaken by Gujarat Government to popularize science by developing scientific temper among the masses.
