====== Overview ======

Windriver (www.windriver.com), the the owner of Simics, has made a series of GEMS patches available that allow GEMS to work with Simics versions 3.0, 3.2 (not available to academia), 4.0, 4.2, and 4.4. Notably, these patches also *remove* support for Simics version 2.2. These patches have not been tested at Wisconsin and we do not plan to offer any official support. 

These patches *do not* offer support for Opal or Tourmaline. Users wishing to use those modules should use the latest GEMS 2.1.1 release and Simics version 3.0. 

====== Acquiring patches =======

We have posted these patches under the "Add-ons" page of the Multifacet GEMS website. Patches should be applied to the top level of the GEMS 2.1.1 release. Additionally, we have a made pre-patched version available in the normal download directory, which as usual will require a registered username for access.
