Dear colleagues, please consider contributing to the following Call for Chapters. There should be quite a number of issues regarding databases, information systems, and advanced applications. For detailed information please see the online call: http://www.igi-global.com/authorseditors/authoreditorresources/callforbookchapters/callforchapterdetails.aspx?CallForContentId=adef4b1e-2540-4290-bbda-bfe557d76525 Best regards, Dr. Claus-Peter Rueckemann Editor ================================================================== CALL FOR CHAPTERS Book Title: Integrated Information and Computing Systems for Natural, Spatial, and Social Sciences published by IGI Global. Editors: Claus-Peter Rueckemann Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität Münster (WWU), Germany Leibniz Universität Hannover, Germany Call for Chapters: Proposals Submission Deadline: July 20, 2011 Full Chapters Due: October 20, 2011 Introduction Up to date information system design, development, implementation, and usage are characterised by dynamism and fast varying means of development and implementation, heterogeneous content, access and information security in complex environments, short-term financing, and individual architectures. Many disciplines have created their individual information and computing system components as for Geoscientific Information Systems (GIS), visualisation, environmental and explorative planning, scientific computing, simulation and modeling. With this plentitude of international and interdisciplinary complexity, legal aspects have become even more prominent to system architects for service providers from international industry as well as from academia system designers. In the future, Information Systems for scientific and industry application will have to be integrated with High End Computing resources for enabling themon MultiCore systems for natural sciences and commercial applications. They will be based on standardised information science methods, centralised and distributed components and fast broad band networks with data high transfer rates and standardised services. Simulations on supercomputing resources have become an effective tool, besides theory and experiment in research and development. This computing power can lead to new results otherwise out of reach and it can help reduce costs for researchers and institutes. High Performance Computing has been recognised as one of the key technologies for the 21st century. Science, industry, and economy use computing resources for their data processing, simulation, modelling, and for supporting production, logistics, and mobility processes. Innovation has been triggered by means of supercomputing, and production processes have been revolutionised. The next decade will have to increase the compute power for a factor of 100 to 1000 in order to cope with the grand challenge problems. Many of the disciplines as to name Geophysics and earth system research, physics, astrophysics, material sciences, plasma physics provide the challenges for the next generation of computational tools. This book is intended to show suitable approaches and to answer some key questions: ?Is it possible to create complex integrated information and computing systems?? and ?How will it be possible to implement international systems respecting the complex legal regulations??. The objective of this book is to integrate all the answers and results. Objective of the Book This book focuses on the current scope of research and practice for present and future integrated information and computing systems. This book will escalate the essentials and viewpoints of research, industry, and society for design, development, and implementation of multidisciplinary complex information and computing systems. The various contributions to this book will uncover the why, what, and who for the next generation of system architectures. Understanding of how the goal of integrated systems can be reached is one of the main issues of this book. We challenge potential authors to reveal the development stage of the universal solution to information and computing systems which would serve as a direct means for building the next generation of integrated information and computing systems.
