K2T's Visual Modeling Group is investigating the semi-automatic construction of three-dimensional models from video. I'll give an overview of the group's first year, which includes work in feature tracking, shape from motion from point features, the triangulation of point clouds, and texture mapping of the resulting objects. Our approach to shape from motion, which uses the factorization method to provide an initial estimate for a nonlinear routine, will be discussed in detail.
